Kristina Barta is internationally renown composer and pianist. After studying classical music and composition at the Prague Conservatory this native Czech pianist graduated from the Academy of Music Arts in Prague, specialising in jazz piano. Kristina is constantly touring and she has played most well-known venues including Strasbourg's Jazzdor (Fra), D'Jazz Nevers (Fra), A Trane (Ger), Radio France (Fra) and others.

Barta won a 1st place in the composer's jazz competition that took place in Czech Republic in 2016. Her trio (Jan Feco on the bass and Marek Urbanek on the drums) got into the finals of 2016 Euroradio Jazz Competition in Netherland. Kristina is also a winner of the 2017 Powiew Mlodegu Jazzu in Poland, where she received an individual price for her piano playing.

Kristina’s trio released a debut album EMA29 (2017, Alessa Records) that was recorded with a help of many great musicians such as - vibraphonist David Friedman (USA), saxophonist Karel Ruzicka jr. (USA), guitarist Krystof Tomecek (CZ) and trumpeter Miroslav Hloucal (CZ).

Kristina’s trio has played on many well-known venues including Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland), Steyr Jazz Festival (Austria), V4 Jazz Festival (Hungary) and others.

Current projects:
Kristina Barta is currently performing with her project „Event Horizon“. This five member band is an original trio enriched with guitar and saxophone. The project plays original contemporary creative jazz, reflecting on Kristina's earlier classical music studies with an emphasis on melodies, modern rhythms and electronic elements. Kristina Barta's debut album EMA 29 was released in 2017 on the Austrian label Alessa Records in collaboration with Austrian producer Peter Guschelbauer.

Kristina Barta and her quartet, consisting of bassist Jan Feco, drummer Marek Urbanek and guitarist Krystof Tomecek, with vibraphonist David Friedman (track 6), trumpeter Miroslav Hloucal (tracks 2, 3, 4, 9, 10), saxophonist Karel Ruzicka Jr. (track 9), children's choir Palecek (tracks 1, 9) and poet Stephen Dartnall (tracks 2, 5) perform twelve original compositions in combination with interpretation of one from the American songbook (Arthur Schwartz's "Alone Together").
